What Is a Twin-wall Polycarbonate Sheet?

Twin-wall polycarbonate sheet is a multi-layered polycarbonate sheet with wonderful thermal affect, which is especially suitable for roofing or greenhouse purposes. The polycarbonate sheet is 12 times lighter than glass, but it is way tougher.

As its name implies, two-wall polycarbonate sheet has two layers, between which ate small chambers that reduce energy cost as the air chambers give additional insulation and saves energy. This is a perfect material for greenhouses or roofing. It has high light transmittance and ultraviolet resistance, making it an excellent choice for both home and industrial uses.

How to Cut Twin-wall Polycarbonate Sheets?
Twin-wall polycarbonate sheet is one type of polycarbonate sheet, and is quite easy to cut, so you can cut it into small pieces with a box knife or circular saw, jigsaw, table saw or any other fine blades. However, your choice of the tool depends on the width of the panel.

First mark the required size on surface of sheet and then start cutting.
Box-knife for cutting parallel to the flutes, and fine jigsaw for cutting across the flute. If you require it to be cut curved, you need to use a jigsaw and keep the measurements perfect. Use a saber saw for rounding corners or making a hole into your panel.

Caution: Be careful when using these instruments. You’d better do it in a quiet place to avoid disturbance. 

How Strong Is Twin-wall Polycarbonate Plastic?
Saining PC board has the same outstanding impact resistance in the temperature range of -40℃ ~ +120℃ and in the outdoor long-term exposure as in the normal temperature. Its impact strength is 250-300 times that of ordinary glass, 30 times that of acrylic plate of the same thickness, and 2-20 times that of tempered glass. It will not crack when stricken by 1 kg hammer or fall from the height of 1 meter. It is reputed as "tempered glass".

Can twin wall polycarbonate be used as roofing sheet?
Yes, polycarbonate roofing panel, which is designed for roofing application, is perfect for such purposes. Corrugated polycarbonate sheet is also a good choice.

How to Clean Twin-wall Polycarbonate?
First, damp the polycarbonate sheet with a water sprayer or pipe.

Then soak a soft cloth or a sponge in the soap water (mild) and gently rub the sheet to clean the dirt on it. Avoid using rough or hard clothes to clean the polycarbonate sheet because it might result in scratch marks.

After rubbing the polycarbonate sheet, thoroughly wash away the soap on the panel.

Be careful when cleaning the edge of the panel, it can be sharp sometimes.
