Polycarbonate is a high molecular weight polymer containing carbonate groups in the molecular chain. Due to the special structure of polycarbonate, it has become the fastest-growing general engineering plastic among the five major engineering plastics.
Polycarbonate sheets are widely used in the building materials industry, automobile manufacturing, medical equipment, aerospace, packaging, electronics, optical lenses, and optical disk manufacturing due to their excellent characteristics. According to its use, polycarbonate panels are often divided into polycarbonate greenhouse panels, polycarbonate roof panels, polycarbonate storm panels and polycarbonate door panels, and so on.
Since polycarbonate sheets are used in different places, how to cut them is also worth thinking about.
Polycarbonate sheets come in various sizes and thicknesses, such as 6mm twin wall polycarbonate sheet, cellular polycarbonate sheet, 8mm multiwall polycarbonate sheet and so on. So when you need individual items, you usually need to reduce them to a minimum.
The tools needed to cut polycarbonate mainly include fine-toothed handsaws or jig saws, clamps, tape measures, straight edges, safety goggles and gloves, and pencils.
The specific method is as follows:
First measure the size of the polycarbonate sheet required, and use a straight edge to draw the line to be cut.
Place the paper on a stable surface and press it down. At this time, it is recommended to use wooden blocks to cushion the impact of the fixture.
Start cutting. Polycarbonate is a very easy to cut material. So you only need to let the blade do all the work.
When you are done, tap the paper hard to remove any excess debris.
Peel off the protective film.
Standard woodworking drill bits are suitable for polycarbonate boards. Make sure to use another material (fragmented wood or acrylic) as a support under the panel. This ensures that when the drill bit leaves the material, the drill bit does not burst the panel.
Under no circumstances should you use a center punch on the polycarbonate sheet material. It is best to drill a small pilot hole to help position the drill bit. Drilling takes time. Please be patient, drill at a stable speed, and periodically stop to remove the chips gathered around the drill bit, otherwise it may cause overheating and damage the hole.
When approaching the other side of the panel, drill through the panel and enter the backstop to ensure that the exit hole does not chip.
First blow and brush away all loose dirt and dust.
Then use a mild warm water solution and a drop of standard detergent, and then wipe off the stubborn dirt with a soft cloth.
Before wiping dry with a microfiber cloth, please rinse gently with clean water to avoid water spots.
PC board polishing is mainly for the subsequent processing of the cut or engraved PC board section. Each polishing process has its own advantages, and different polishing processes can be selected according to requirements.
For scratches on polycarbonate sheets, professional polishes or T-cut car polishes can achieve good results.
